Initial installation in Mooloolah River in 2021. The site was completely bare of mangroves.

After 6 months at the Mooloolah River site, seeds had been trapped, propagated and growing well. Crabs and worms have moved back into the area due to the shelter provided by the bamboo. Sediment has built up around 50mm within the bamboo.

After 2 years there is around 150mm of sediment build up and the bamboo is starting to biodegrade. Zero devices have washed away or been removed and around 30-40 mangroves have established with some 80cm tall.

After 3 years there is around 200mm of sediment build up and the bamboo. All devices are still in place and continue to biodegrade. There are around 50 mangroves with some over 1m tall.

After 4 years there are around 70 mangroves up to 1.5m in height. The erosion in the area has stopped and the Mangrove Mate has just about biodegraded away.
